May Missions Update

Hey everyone!

I'm sorry that our monthly email update has been delayed by several days, but between moving into our long-term rental and most of the family fighting sickness over the last few weeks, so this update has been delayed...but that said, we have been in El Paso for over a month now!

As April began, we started doing the "missional work" of intentional hospitality by trying to have people come over for dinner at least once a week and "prayer cycling." That's what we are calling it when we take our bikes to Horizon City to ride around and pray for the various families, schools, soldiers, construction workers, etc that we see. If you have ever heard of "prayer walking," it's the exact same thing...but on a bicycle.

Of course, the first Sunday of April was Easter, which means that the first Friday of April was Good Friday.

On Good Friday, we joined with the other local baptists for a service where pastors from seven local Baptist churches each preached short sermons on the seven sayings of Jesus from the cross. Not to be confused with a Tenebrae service, during that evening we were able to sing praises to our God in both English and in Spanish, as well as enjoy a meal with our brothers and sisters from other local churches.

Then, on Sunday, we celebrated Easter at Jezreel. Since it was also the first Sunday of the month, there were baptisms and we observed the Lords Supper, as well as a big meal where both the English and Spanish congregations enjoyed food and fellowship. It was during that Easter Sunday morning that Pastor Daniel (the founding pastor at Jezreel) introduced Patricia, the family, and I as church planters from Virginia and notified the Spanish speaking congregation that I will be serving as a pastoral resident while we prepare to plant in Horizon City.

On Tuesday two days after Easter, a bit of hilarity ensued as Patricia and Heather were on my bicycle and were actually pulled over by the police for failure to stop at at stop bar before turning left on a road. That was the first time that I have ever known of the police to pull a bicycle over.

A week after Easter, I preached at Jezreel on Luke 9:23-24, and as always you can watch that sermon on my youtube channel, as well as each of our vlog episodes that have come out while we've been here. As always, I encourage you to subscribe to my YouTube channel if you want notifications whenever I post a vlog there.

Speaking of the Vlog, because of the illnesses in the family the last few weeks, we haven't been able to update it for several weeks, but a massive "catch up" episode should be on there in the next few days (if it isn't there already!). That said, I actually uploaded a private "photo dump" video that is live now if you want to see a short montage of pictures from the last month! It's just way easier to create a video montage than to load each individual image into an email, haha!

While you are there, make sure you subscribe to the channel so you never miss a vlog or sermon upload.

Other than that, it's been a relatively calm month as we have been settling into our new routines of work and minstry. Of course, none of this would be possible without support from our partners like you! As always, if you want to support us financially, you can do so on our Zeffy page, and don't forget to join our Facebook group if you haven't already!

Thank you all so much for your prayers, support, and continued engagement with what God is doing in the Sun City!

As always, thank you for supporting us! We love you all!
